㽶ý, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry celebrated the Class of 2025 at its 131st Commencement Ceremony June 15 at The Masonic in San Francisco.
More than 200 students and residents graduated with the degrees including: Doctor of Dental Surgery; Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene; Master of Science in Dentistry, Orthodontics; and Master of Science in Dentistry, Endodontology.
The group also included 27 students representing countries from around the world who graduated from the school’s two-year International Dental Studies program.
“This is it; this moment right here is the culmination of our dreams. For many of us, it’s a dream that existed long before we even stepped foot into dental school, but it’s a dream we have all realized. Today we stand here, awakened and inspired, ready to dream bigger,” said Dr. Mary Lillian Quilici ’25, selected as this year’s student speaker. “It has been my absolute privilege to witness the transformation of the Class of 2025 becoming skilled clinicians and astounding human beings.”
Prior to the ceremony, the weekend was filled with celebratory activities including the Alumni/Graduate Banquet held Friday at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. Hosted by the school’s alumni association, the event officially welcomed graduates to the school’s alumni ranks. The Dr. Henry A. Sutro Award for Best Oral Rehabilitation Design: Design and Excellence of Execution was presented to Dr. Ruth Rauca ’25, who was selected from a group of 14 student finalists. Students also recognized faculty members with awards to thank them for their impact on the student learning experience.
Saturday morning, graduates read messages of thanks to family members and significant others who supported them throughout their time in dental school at the Thanks a Bunch Brunch at the InterContinental San Francisco.
Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society inductions were held Saturday evening at the Olympic Club’s City Clubhouse, where 12% of the graduating class were selected for membership. Selected individuals graduated with high honors. Graduates selected for membership in two other honor societies, Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Kappa Omega, were recognized at special events held earlier in May and June.
As a special public recognition for the graduates, San Francisco City Hall was illuminated in Pacific’s colors of orange and black Saturday evening in recognition of graduates’ impact on the local community.
